VFW CHAPEL 10:30 USE FRONT DOOR FACING GLEBE ROAD. EVERYONE WELCOME
My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We’ve lots be thankful for and I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Wow, pastor Fred, first you wish us a Happy Thanksgiving and then you drop this on us. Our Lord wants us to have a ‘heads up’ on what’s coming down the pike.
This Sunday, we can see In our Luke 21 reading, Jesus himself tells us about end times, he says in vs.25 “There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves. Sounds kind of familiar, doesn’t it? In my humble opinion, I think that things are building up and you and I should keep these warnings in mind, Our LORD also remarked in vs 26 that things will become so terrifying that: “People will faint from fear and foreboding of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken”. Because, then you see, our LORD will be coming in a cloud with power and great glory! (vs)27
Jesus didn’t say that when these things start to happen for us to be fearful like the rest of the world, but, that you as followers of The Way Of Christ should know that your REDEMPTION, NOT YOUR PUNISHMENT IS DRAWING NEAR. Here, look at the verse for yourselves in vs. 28:” Now when these things begin to take place, stand up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
So, is there an idea of about when is this going to happen? Many scholars, myself included have concluded that it’s going to happen to the generation that witnesses this parable Jesus spoke of in vs. 30,32: “Then he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees; as soon as they sprout leaves you can see for yourselves and know that summer is already near. So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all things have taken place.
I believe that the generation who were was born when Israel declared statehood is the generation that Jesus was talking about. Jesus is giving us the 2 min warning. In the National Football League, the two-minute warning is given when two minutes of game time remain on the game clock in each half of a game, i.e. near the end of the second and fourth quarters. I think this is the second half! To help us get ready, The LORD is telling us in vs 34-36:” Be on guard so that your hearts are not weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of this life, and that day catch you unexpectedly, like a trap. For it will come upon all who live on the face of the whole earth. Be alert at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
So now we can go to Jeremiah for an excellent reading and a prayer, look no further than Psalm 25vs 1-10 for the guidance and prayer that God will give you for protection and to meet Jesus upon his arrival! And of course, if you haven’t read this, here it is John Chapter 3 vs 16 John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
May God bless you and your family with an anointing of His Holy Spirit.
Yours, in Christ Jesus,
Rev Fred Bahr, OSL
